CH2M: CH2M foundation presents $10K cheque to Deep River Science Academy & DRSA AGM

Deep River Science Academy’s vision is to advance public understanding of science and engineering by engaging students across Canada in Research and Development in partnership with educators, industry and government. CH2M HILL Foundation’s grant will support two programs. Summer Science Immersion, a six-week residential program that provides high school students with hands-on laboratory experience while working on an ongoing research and development project under the guidance of a university-level tutor and a professional scientist or engineer. Inreach, brings a similar concept to more students across Canada by bringing the research to them in their classrooms. A research project is broadcast once a week for approximately 12 weeks into a high school classroom with the opportunity for students to ask real-time questions of the professional scientists and engineers. Combined, these two programs reach approximately 300 high school students each year providing them with insights into careers in STEM fields as well as confidence in the scientific research method.
